Morven Solar Farm

The Project

Morven Solar Farm is a proposed 125MW solar and battery energy storage system (BESS) Project in the Greater Hume Shire Local Government Area in New South Wales, about 11 kilometres north of Gerogery.

The Project is located on Wiradjuri land over a 220 hectare (ha) underdeveloped site, that has historically been used for grazing and associated rural activities. The Project would connect to the national electricity grid via and existing 132kV transmission line, operated by Transgrid.

In line with State and Commonwealth commitments to reduce carbon emissions by harnessing renewable energy, the proposed Morven Solar Farm has the potential to generate enough clean energy to power approximately 48,000 homes, reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 220,000 tonnes per year. The BESS is designed to store the solar energy generated during the day and discharge it at periods of high demand.

Project fast facts

  • 42 km North of Albury and the Victorian Border
